Open-House Public Meeting: Uptown Normal Pedestrian Railroad Crossing Alternatives Analysis

The Town of Normal will hold an open-house public meeting on Thursday, April 27, on the 4th floor at Uptown Station, 11 Uptown Station, in Normal, from 5 pm to 7 pm. The purpose of the open-house public meeting is to share the technical results of the proposed Uptown Normal pedestrian railroad crossing alternatives analysis. (Attendees may park free-of-charge in the parking deck attached to Uptown Station.)

The Town engaged WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff to assist with identifying, evaluating, and ultimately determining which pedestrian rail crossing alternatives are most feasible for the Town to consider. This analysis was performed so that the Town of Normal is positioned to apply for future funding to complete the project in accordance with existing federal guidelines.

The open house is an opportunity for the public to provide feedback, gain insight into this process, and learn how each alternative is being evaluated. At the open house, public comments will be accepted in the form of written comments and recorded public testimony. Comments will also be received for 30 days after the meeting via the Town of Normal website (www.normal.org).

The final choice of an alternative for the pedestrian crossing is tentatively schedule to be made by the Normal Town Council in June 2017. Public comments and questions from the open house and during the 30-day comment period will become part of the public record and made available to the Council for their consideration in their decision.
